The Orient Express

As some of you may know it's finally that time of year again... The Rose of Tralee festival. So of course we got out gladrags on and went to celebrate the festival which has been running for 55 years. I went for chunky sandals as we end up spending most of the night standing around in the Square; I didn't want to go though the excruciating pain of wearing heels for the whole night. Another trend for A/W this year is Orient inspired. Think Oriental prints and patterns - birds and florals, bright colours, shining materials and of course kimono details. In keeping with this trend I pulled out this old thang - a Victorias Secret kimono style dressing gown. At least I assume its a dressing gown. Its years old and a charity shop find so I'm not exactly sure, but whatever I do what I want only, therefore it is a kimono. I love the colours, the jewel tones and the silky material. Its lightweight and so easy to throw on. I paired it with a baggy white T and purple shorts from a random shop in America to keep to the colour scheme. It is all very matchy but hey, they're my favourite colours so why wouldn't I want all of the everything in that shade? To add to the opulence of the Oriental style I went with gold details - jewellary and even the studs on the bag and chain detail on the necklace. Pop of purple lippie and I was ready for the Rose!
